In this presentation Francisco will discuss how his sound creative practice has been shaped over the past 40+ years by two main environments of influence that divert from common music training: the independent home-music worldwide network (starting in the late 70s) and the influence of ‘real world’ sonic environments, particularly from nature.

Excursion #8 - Artist Focus: Concrete Studies I - Lotte Nijsten & Gillis Van Der Wee

This excursion will center on Lotte and Gillis sharing the conceptual and technical steps behind Concrete Studies I, as well as future directions and  questions. The work is a multi-channel installation that immerses the listener in the underground soundscape of Brussels. By using concrete slabs as ‘loudspeakers,’ Lotte and Gillis create a soundscape that explores the physical relationship between sound and space.
